copper or aluminum replacement

You picture confirms that the orginal evaporator is aluminum. I saw a picture of a replacement evaporator for a w124 that was copper. Was your replacement copper or aluminum?

I know this is bad enough as it is but wouldn't it be worth taking the front seats out to get more room to lay as you work ?
