No known conversions exist.

Won't be so classy if converted, either.

i no it can be done has i have already part done it but the springs i have are to weak the shock are from a 126 model and fit fine just need to redrill the cover that goes over the top of the shocks its just the springs that i need
they just need to be heavy duty and around 3 to 4 inchs taller than the originals i am from the uk and volvo vw audi must have something similar

240TDs are as rare as hen's teeth in the US. Maybe www.pgauto.com can help you.

You might present a 300TD head and 240D head to a machine shop and see if they can move the pump. Most 617 heads have bosses for an SLS pump. Seems like you have to drill and tap some holes and put a wobble drive on the cam sprocket. Maybe the same is true with the 616 head.

Consider a tandem (power steering/SLS) pump from a 300TE since parts are more readily available.

When you say W123 "estate", I assume your in Great Britian. Estate was not used in the U.S.

I know that certian wagons came without SLS in the W123 world wide. Might I suggest you go to a local Mercedes dealer and inquire about the none SLS wagon setup. Get the part numbers for everything needed for the conversion. And if you do PLEASE post them here for us in the U.S.

Dave

PS If you are not in Great Britian, then never mind.

The "T" 123 chassis is an easy conversion from self-leveling..have the springs replaced with the springs from a sedan & also the shocks......

The spring part number is 123-324-36-04 & the shocks are up to you..HD Bilsteins are the best route.

there must be a pair of springs out there that fit and shocks to match to make it into a standard car i have half done the job but the spings are not strong enough

Didn't M.B. Doc just answer your question? His reply didn't sound inconclusive or tentative to me.

You have to read between the lines. I suspect many who looked into it decided that MB engineers knew what they were doing.

Brian Carlton had a heck of a time getting his SDL to sit right with factory springs. He gave up and had coils turned to his specification. You should be the brave corsair of the TD world and have springs custom made, then offer a group purchase so no one asks the question you just asked

This is not how we treat each other on this forum. If someone had done this conversion completely, it would probably be a DIY link at the top. Attitude is everything, and your attitude needs adjusting.
