not too difficult. just be sure to disconnect the battery first
 You can do the whole thing with the car on the ground, although it may be easier to get at the wires from underneath. use a prybar to pop the guide shims back before you put the new one in. Did you already try just a voltage regulator? there's a recall on those things...

Voltage regulator
Thanks for the tip, I didn't know that. I put an amp meter on the battery and it is drawing not charging, so I figured the altenator is bad... I Didn't even think of the volt reg.

Definitly try the voltage regulator. Be careful pressing on the bushings with a prybar, I have seen two broken timing covers because of this. I use a 19mm socket with a long bolt and a nut to draw the bushing back. You put the socket over the busing from the front, then put the bolt through the middle of the socket to make a puller.
