Help - Part Identification on 1997 SL500

Could anyone please help me identify this part and whether a tube is supposed to go into it? I've been having CEL trouble with P0410 code, so I'm going to replace as many tubes & hoses as I can. In my search, I found this device which seems to be ready for a hose to fit into.... I'm going to be cleaning my MAF as well, but I just want to cover all bases.

It's just a small filter screen for one of your switchover valves, not sure if that's for the air injection or EGR valve. You can pull it off and see if it's blocked, I've never had to replace one. Not 100% sure if you can buy those seperately, may need the whole valve.

Oh yes, I did notice a fine metal screen in there. Does a hose or tube attach to that thing, or does it just breathe the ambient air?

I tried looking for air or EGR valves, but I couldn't find a picture of one that looks quite like the one in my car....
