Cruise Control Coding Unit
Hi, I'am fitting a cruise system from a 1991 300E auto to my 91 190E 2.6 manual and the EPC lists a different coding plug for the manual car. Does anyone know what effect the different plug would have in a manual car, I realise that the clutch switch will have to be added etc.

The auto trans has more "give" whenever the throttle is actuated where the manual trans is completely locked-up.
Due to the torque converter operation that always allows for some slippage you might have a "funny" feel to that operation.

Hi thanks for the reply, so basically the auto throttle acuator will move quicker and further to allow for Torque convertor slip and higher gearing? So running this coding on a manual may give a speed surge? The different coding units appear to be no longer available and all cruise amps supercede to just one type, so I guess I will just have to suck it n see! Unless anyone has a super rare manual coding plug? Regards Linds

I can't believe that the coding plugs are no longer available,
however there is very little in them to justify the price. I'm looking at one out of a W124 automatic and there are only 4 precision resistors on a small circuit board. If someone had the coding plug that you need but was unwilling to part with it, if they would be so kind as to tell you the values and positions, you could modify one very economically. The resistors are 1/4 watt 1% and should cost about 50 cents each from an electronics supplier. |
