can\'t open gas lid

pulled over at a gas stop to pump gas.. only to realize that i could not open my gas lid. when i unlock the car, all locks open except for the gas lid cover. is this a vacumn problem? the small pin that holds the lid locked isn't being released. i have a 94 E420.
