Good day (or evening, depending where you are!). In an earlier post I wrote about a buzzing sound coming from the A/C aspirator grill (located on the front overhead light console in my 1991 420SEL). The dealer diagnoesed it as a faulty aspirator fan (which I already kinda suspected) and told me it would cost $200.00 to replace it. It seems steep for such a small part (it is more of an annoyance than a real problem). My question is: is this a DYI project. I am reasonably handy with tools and electronics (I put together my own computers and I used to be able to take apart, and put back together, the Rochester carbs in my old 1972 Chevy SS Malibu). I know the fan is located somewhere near the passenger air bag controls in the passenger footwell. Can anyone tell me if this is a "do-able" project and if so, where do I find the exact location of the fan? your help, as always, is greatly appreciated.

BTW...this is my 3rd vintage Benz. I only wish I had found out about this board sooner, Thanks!!!

You could order the part from us and then do it yourself.

You will need to lower the right side under dash panel and the right side plastic panel. IF you have the dual air bags, you will need to take off the knee bolster. The motor will then be seen connected to a black pipe.

Good luck
