Welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately we don't have too many new diesels in the US so knowledge is limited to a few people who have experience with the CDI engines. The last C class diesels in the US were W201 chassis cars. Many people here also like the old diesels because they have very few electronics to go bad. Just our stupid automatic climate control.

almmost certainly air mass meter. It's possible to get a 2nd bad one. Agreed, scan codes before proceeding

Thanks for all the answere!

The car have been scanned at MB dealer.
They sayd it was no codes.
This was done after the ATF fluid was changed.
So the ATF level should have been checked.
What scanner is recommended if I should by one?

The AT have also been scanned once before at a independent MB AT "spesialist". He also sayd no codes. And the problem could be Electronic Hydraulic Unit. He needed the car overnight to say more...

I will check the ATF level @ 80°C, factory dip stick ordered.
Filled with MB ATF oil, bought for 220 CDI, I will check the type.

It might be only the bad pulling (when cold) problem left.

The generic scanners (the affordable variety) will not pull the trans codes.

If you have 3rd gear and higher you are not in limp home mode.

You've told us your engine type but not the chassis. Is it a E class W210? If so, it should have the 722.6xx trans which requires synthetic fluid which it sounds as if you got as it came from MB.

The 722.6xx is very particular about its fill level. Best thing to do is to have it scanned with MB scanner to confirm fluid is at 80C and to then confirm proper fill level. The second best measurement is using an Infrared thermo on the trans pan. Last choice is driving around a few miles to heat it up. You live where it is cold so that choice should be avoided.

Note this is not coolant temp, but trans temp.

It's not very often it have been in to this kind of emergency program, but it's someting like limp home, max 3000 RPM and there is somting else, reduced power also. Not sure if I have 3rd gear and higher, when this happend. Use to stop very quick, and recycle.

Have seen limp home described with max 50 km/h and max 2500 RPM

This is a early W210 E220 CDI model before 6/99
Can this be the difference in max RPM in limp home mode?

Transmission is 722.6xx ( i think it is 722614)

I will have the fluid level scanned with MB scanner at 80C.
But infrared thermo it also ordered

After what you say, I start to suspect the ATF fluid.
Are MB producing to types?
Synthetic and non syntetic?

Is the one and only good ATF fluid for 722.6 MB part 001 989 21 03 10

The oil was bought long time ago for a 2000 model E 220 CDI
So it should be correct, but Im not sure.

How long have the MB syntetic ATF been on the marked?

As long as your ATF came from teh dealer and was bought for your 99 and not one of the other two cars you own it should be fine. The syn fluids came out in 96 I beleive. All MB's since 96 use syn everything.

There is a new trans fluid here in the US that is used in the 722.9, it is backward compatible back to the 722.3 or 4.

I do not have my owners manuel handy but believe limp home mode is 2nd gear only. Not sure what RPM it allows but know it is reduced. I also beleive the trans stays in limp home (even if repaired) until the codes causing the fault are cleared by a MB quality computer.

I think your first step is to confirm you have the correct fluid and fill level as this can cause poor shift quailty.

My 99 calls for 8L; I've seen a post concerning a E420 who's 722.6xx called for 9L. Your's is 7L?
