190E 2.6 handling help
I am spoiled with my 190 2.3-16 in the handling department.
Get Phil to source [I]European[I]-spec 190E 2.6 [I]SportLine[I] front and rear springs, sway bars, and Bilstein Sport shocks. It will transform your car. Spring changes are not difficult with a spring compressor and a little smarts. You should probably also change out your rear suspension links as well as checking out the subframe mounts. I hope this helps. The US-cars are all a little on the soft-and-squishy side, handling-wise.

Why would new bilstien struts make it ride rough?
![]() The first and cheapest thing to do is replace the sway bar bushings on your current sway bars. The sportline sway bars are a good way to go if you decide to replace the sways. |

i would start with new bilsteins and check my rear sway bar links. if one is broken it is amazing how much it affects the feel of the car!

my biggest improvements on the 300e (sons) were rear shocks and rear dog bones...

Upgrading to Eibach springs, Bilstien sport shocks/struts, and larger sway bars is the formula for success. 300E swaybars aren't much bigger than regular 190 sway bars. If you can track down 500E or even 300TE swaybars, that may be the way to go. Of course, you will probably have to trim a bit off them to get em to fit.
