On my 300D, there were a few times when as I took off from a stop light the tranny would kinda' jerk into the next gear. As I stopped and turned off the car, the engine ran on so I assumed I had a vacuum leak. After sitting the car started and ran fine after that. Within the last couple of weeks there were 2 instances where, as I was coming to a stop, I felt a jerk which felt like the tranny downshifting. The first time the car didn't shut off right away after I turned off the ignition. The second time the jerk went away before I got to my destination.

My question is that if my problem was an intermittent vacuum leak, wouldn't it give me the jerking on both upshifting and downshifting? Also could this be a sign of big trouble in the future?

Thanks guys,
Frank

Sounds like a vacuum problem. Can't be too bad.

It sounds like the problem comes and goes. The weather is getting hot later. Does the problem happen only when you have the AC/heater on? If so, you have a vacuum leak in the AC system. It is just a wild guess. You have to do some investigation.
