Greetings again,

I have yet another question. I have just rebuilt the head on our '88 190E and I was wondering if anyone could tell me why the oil light might be on. I also replaced the heater core so I had the dash apart. Is there something that needs to be reset after things are disconnected? I put 5 qts of oil in so I know there is plenty in there. Thanks in advance.

Kodiak

5 quarts seems like a rather low amount of oil for a Mercedes. Check your manual to see what the oil capacity is.

Thanks for the reply Mike. According to the manuals the capacity for the car is 5.2-5.3 U.S. quarts. I figure that 4.9 or so should not make the light come on. By the way, I did check the level and it is right where it should be. Any other ideas?

Try checking the connection to the oil level sender, or the peice that connects to the oil pan (?) sensing low level.

oil light

Check the oil level on the dipstick. 7 Qts for 2.3 8 Qts for 2.6
