Yes, I know..had one in about 2 weeks ago;-)

However, the EZL listed in the above link is for an M103, thus not pertinent to this fellow's woes.

Who rebuilds them in FL? I found this shop in Germany that will build them for USD 1000 pius shipping.

I bought a used Siemens brand, apparently an improved part over the Bosch but can't verify it. It is from a '92 and works in my '90.

Anyone experience intermittent high idle?

The item description says nothing about M103 or M104, just:

" Mercedes Ignition Module

It is mercedes part# 006 545 74 32, Bosch part # 0 227 400 658. This should fit w126 300SE/SEL 1988-89, 300TE 1988-89,190E 2.6 1989 and w124 300e's1986-92, but as always your best bet is to match up the part number with the one you are trying to replace.
"

So 1992 300E and 1992 300CE do not have the same engine? It'd have been big saving .

It doesn't have to say which engine, the years it fits tells you it's for an M103. The CE came equipped with the M104 in 92, before the E and TE.

Lot of interest...

I also own a 300E and S320. At first glance, they look the same. But the 104 engine on my 300CE has an extra knob on the bottom roll for some type of adjustment.

Here is the link in Flordia, you would have to send in your old module, and they will rebuild it for you. For about $350 extra, I opt to install a new one. One note, they can test your old unit for $50. If I known that, I would not have my car towed to be verified.

Jack, the Part Number for the new ICM I purchased from our local MB dealer is A 012 545 20 32. I'd be very skeptical about any new part number that is different. I repeat my earlier comment ... these ICM's cannot be rebuilt. Trust me, I spent 12 months trying to track down either a rebuilt unit or a used one, and made numerous phone calls and sent many e-mail messages in the process.

That's for a 300 or 190E 2.6.
