Once you have that sorted get the fuel filter changed ,you have new leads etc and with the ignition timing checked and adjusted accordingly you should be ready to roll.
There's other little jobs which can be done to ensure these caers run better. i always make sure that full throttle is attained. So many of these cars are driving around on half throttle.
To adjust your mixture,to make it leaner...
The idle mixture is adjusted with the Aircleaner in place.
A 3mm allen key is inserted in the hole in the center of the air cleaner. It's pushed down until the mixture adjustment screw is located and turned anticlockwise to lean it out or vice-versa,
it's not a job for ther home handy person unless they have a CO meter to measure emmisons.

Be cause your car has spent some time not being used, the valves etc are not going to be sealing 100% .
And,as I come across a lot mercedes in this situation I use a remedy that is reccomended by Mercedes.
this is it..
For every 100 liters of fuel ,add 1 liter of automatic transmission fluid it doesn't matter what brand or grade because it all serves the same purpose and it works great!.
Your tank holds approx 90 liters so pour in 900mls next time you need to fill from empty.

No, its always been white/yellow toward intake

I did a temp reversal on it & ran it w air assemb off
& I didn't like it
it was lumpy on idle
it also was starting to gasp for air
engine didn't do well so I shut it down

Good to know the mechanic was right!!!
Sorry I doubted him
I just wanted to be sure

I shouldn;t try to 2nd guess things I don't know
but I know my vac hoses
I changed most of them & now I will have that last one old
but guess thats a egr one...
they looked intact
maybe they didn't want to chance breaking the ports off in the hose either

OOOH welll
Can close that one...

but thanks for all the info

tranny auto
these days there are so many
dex 3?

Will have to look into that\
but if its Merc recommended
Heck why not

Its a ratio 1 percent
so its constant doesn't matter units
would be 24 gal tank would be..hmmm have to figure it or convert

I have no CO meter

Seems I;m biting off a crumb of a huge sandwich
& maybe after weeks I might be able to get everything attended to
I want too
especially if its not that expensive

How can I ask for him for a fuel filter now?
Arrgh
But I still want that hose put on better so I must go back

My guys guys left the old vac hoses on that last vac thermal switch
they would have all been new

Guess its just a judgement call
I wrote on my list to please change any old bad hoses
guess they weren't too bad

Just bugs me
Maybe I'm being too picky...

I had the parts
I would have paid them for the hoses
I'm still a bit miffed at that
why not change 25 year old hoses when your back there
Won't be back there again for 25 years

Still I bow to Enrique & ask for his foregiveness
but his guys sometimes!!!!

Enrique is still the BENZMASTER

Just buy a cheap bottle of transfluid ( 1 liter, even in California it should marked in liters ) When you go to fill up again, pour the whole bottle in then fill the tank.
BUT, get the fuel filter changed first. It should be done very 12 months anyway.
Now get Driving!!

OOoh gosh
I better stop
I think I;m having brain meltdown
Maybe its the air & exhaust today

Wanted to fillup today
but they were filling the tanks
& half the pumps were being repaired
Just decided it wasn't a good time
So I'd like to do this tomorrow

Wonder if I have any?
I had some old fluids
I thru out some as they were prob 10 years old
but for adding to gas it would have been ok

I might put off the fuel filter
esp if I:m running tranny fluid in the gas

Anyway I prob can get my mechanic to quickly tighten the WUR rear hose
but as for the other things have to choose times wisely.

I'm so sorry
100 liters is about 25 gals
thats the tank
A liter is close to a qt

Oooh maybe I better go make my dinner

I think I'm loosing my mind here...

I want to go down at 11PM & put that car back together

Nothing else I can do
WUR hose is too close to those old ones on the old TVV

With these fires though none real close
I like to think I can get in the car & get us all to safety

Thanks so much
Your doing a great job with that 500 SEC AMG
Thanks for taking the time to share the info w me

The euro is a bit daunting

Can't I put it in a half tank & fill it up?
Will it mix OK
should be same concentration

I also have a fuel system cleaner in the gas
Techron

I don't like to run the tank low
esp now w the fires

Is adding tranny fluid like adding MArve l Mystery oil?

I used to use it in the old days
well gave the cars a dose one in a blue moon

Just want to be sure before I add anything to the gas

Where can we verify thats its Merceded recommended

Just don't want to foul anything.
Guess I've made enough mistakes
