Thanks, Peter, for your input. I sense that you are correct about removing the old shift lever. When I look closely at the yoke where the shaft goes in, there is a spiral slot that appears would accept the type of original shift lever I have. Hense, the only way to get the old shaft out would to turn it in the opposite direct from that used to insert it. I assume that would be to the right facing the yoke. I will try Performance Products for a replacement shaft. Thanks again.
