Does anybody have TV headrests in their benz? I am kind of thinking of installing them on my car. From what I hear they are pretty affordable, like a couple grand tops. I just want them for show for I cannot drive and watch TV at the same time, lol.

Stillen did an ML320 with headrest monitors in them (check back issues of Car Stereo Review). Thinking about doing mine...MBs monitor option works on 2000 and later models (mine is a 99).

I don't know what model MB you have, but some headrests aren't large enough for the moght consider the seatback area? I guess a couple of grand is disposable for you, but I'd have to think about it, especially if it was just for show only!!

I'm about to do that in my 16V! What I'm planning on doing is installing a PC in the car with a DVD-ROM and a TV-out video card. has really inexpensive LCD screens. They have 5.6" displays for only $160! I'll have a larger screen (maybe 6.8") upfront, then the 5.6" displays in the headrests.
For the PC, I'm still looking into DC-DC power supplies, which don't seem to be readily available, so I'll probably end up building my own. I have to put my electrical engineering classes to use somehow

Hope this gives you some ideas!

This was a swell idea my brother had some years ago. He decided against it. So did I.

The reason was primarily because of the possible negative emission of carcinognic (cancer causing) rays that could probably affect the person sitting infront.

The other alternative was to mount the screen where the rear view mirror sits. But that too will cause a distraction to the driver, and not so safe for the rear passengers in the event of an unlikely frontal collision (where the screen would missile backwards).

The safest option is to have a slide-in screen which opens up when you require it.

Thanks for all the replies guys,

1) this would be on my 92 300D 2.5, to be honest with you, unless I decide to get the engine rebuilt in the car, I will not install them, i do have emotional attachment to the car, but it is old and it has a lot of miles on it.

2) I have seen the aftermarket ones too, the monitors are under $200.00 each and the player is about $500.00, this also depends on brand and where you buy from of course. My friend has a car with a computer and MP3 player, internet access, wireless keyboard, etc. I think its pretty sweet for show. The internet connection is only 33.6 tops, and the monitors are pretty small, so its not the most practical thing, but its better than nothing i suppose.

The MP3 player will be most valuable to me I think, lol.

3) The monitors will fit in the headrests on my car, but you would have to cut out the material inside, etc. I guess you can tap into the power from the power seat motors/wiring.

4) as far as the emissions, unless you always leave them on, or have back passangers all the time, it shouldnt do any brain damage with it turned off <shrug>. I never really thought or researched about the health issue. Good point ymsin.
