Question oil change

Hello there

I have a 1997 C280 Sport and I have few questions about the oil change DIY.

1. where is the oil drain plug and oil filter located exactly ?

2. I want to use synthetic oil in my engine, but what grade should I use ? differences between 10W-40 and 15W-40 ?

3. my maintenance booklet says that it needs to "Reset Maintenance Service Reminder" when oil is changed. How do I perform this task ?

4. where can I find the oil filter socket or wrench to remove the oil filter ?

thank you very much

1. The oil filter is left rear of the engine(drivers side). Drain plug is on the left front corner of the oil pan.
2. The weight of the oil is dependent on your climate! In your area I would use a 0W-40 or 10W-40.
3. Reset of the FSS system is for 1998 & later cars!
4. The socket is a 74mm & factory part number is 103-589-02-09-00, price from dealer should be around $12. Possibly a local parts store would have a 74mm oil filter socket as well. ie; Pep-Boys or NAPA.

I personally don't use an oil filter wrench. My hand works fine, and has never failed me yet!
Also, you will need to remove the undercarriage under the engine (4 screws, 7 mm I think?) to access the drain plug. And be sure and use the new washer that comes with the oil filter kit!
Good luck.
