>>but that's 3 miles a trip between home and work with a fair amount of lights and stop signs. The car barely has time to warm up before I'm there.<<

I am more like 1.5 miles there and 1.5 miles back and experience the same thing. With a bit more around town driving thrown in, I average just over 17 mpg for most tanks of gas. Get it on the highway and the mileage gets in the 28-30 range.

Pure highway mpg on my last long road trip was about 30 mpg at around 90-ish.
Any one know the performance spec differences between the 2.3 and 1.8L? Were the 2.3L kompressors as well? Just curious.

Pretty sure I bought one last year in Socal with a 1.8L. Now I'm curious.

Those I posted were for the w202 up through year 2000. If I remember right, the subsequent w203 had a C230 Kompressor version that was really a 1.8L supercharged engine, but doesn't that engine have an M2xx numbering?

My 2004-C230 has over 75K miles. on 1200 miles round trip last weekend (before schedule-B service) Chicago <> Tennessee average 68 mph @ 30.8 mpg on the dash . I was at 80 mph most of the time (rural area) and got as high as 32.2 mpg at some point but Chicago traffic brought both average down. It has been very good mpg from the beginning. Very happy with the car but not the service but that's another subject .

More PSI in the tires seem to help a lot. Mine set at factory recommend (28, 32) +4 on both.
