1986 300E - Won't Start

Actually I believe the car starts, but immediately shuts down. When I crank the key to turn on the car, I hear the starter crank and the engine does turn on. In fact it stays on long enough to rev the engine with the gas peddle for about 1 second before turning itself off.

The strange part, the O2 and SRS light stay on which I've never seen before. Also, the tachometer and speedometer don't move at all even while I'm revving the engine. The far left cluster with the fuel level and oil pressure do seem to work just fine.

A strong hail and rain storm just hit this afternoon and could have gotten something wet. I got a ride home from work, but won't be able to try the ignitiion again until tomorrow. Maybe it just drys out and everything works fine, but if I should be addressing something now I'd like to get some parts ordered.

Let me know if anyone has a clue whats going on. I'm thinking either something got wet or a vacuum hose disconnected. I just drove it hours before the problem with no signs of anything abnormal.
