anyway to run e85 in a W124? anyone know what is needed? thinking also maybe to convert to a deisel

124 doesn't give much information for a question like that. Can it be done? YES and NO. I have a 124 and it can't be done. I have seen some that it could be done.

The fuel system on that series & MOST MB's upto 2005 will not run correctly on E85.
And you most likely will spend $$$$$ more to try E85 on that car.

Converting to a diesel is silly unless you have a good diesel car that has a very bad CHASSIS. Would be better to sell that car & buy a diesel powered car.

I don't know the exact architecture of the MB injection system as far as how it relates to what I know about EFI systems but if it bears any resemblance to a Chevy TPI, you could try two things. One, raise the fuel pressure. The drawback of this is that you may have to raise it so far the injectors might not function properly. Two, install larger injectors. The down side here is that you can't readily switch back to regular gasoline whenever you want to.

E85 also attacks plastic parts so you have to make sure everything is fit for contact with it.

The biggest problem(s) with E85 is the damage that happens to the fuel pumps & the fuel distributor. They aren't coated for that type of fuel. Also the fuel lines aren't designed to run E85.

Last I checked, E85 cost more then gasoline.... why would you want to run a fuel that would harm the car?

You could by a new mercedes as they are flexfuel cars. My nieghbor has a 2007 o8 8 clk that is flexfuel. He runs it completely on E85 and says he gets better gas milage car burns cleaner and performs better than premium gas.

He's nuts and cannot repeal the laws of physics.
