ignition

I have a 1982 240D. The plug that plugs into the back of the ignition melted. So now I have 8 lose wires. Where can I find out or if anyone knows what wire goes where.

What I would do is go to a salvage yard and clip the ignition harness and just spice the wires by color. I've been doing this work for 30 years and I've yet to see a schematic that could tell me what you are asking.
