The 2002 W210 cars do not need any coding for the shifter (ESM).

Go back to the post about the brake lights & make sure that they are working properly!

NSS is the old term for cars of today are calling the transmission range recogniton switch. The shift lock out module is part of the electronic selector module which is built in the selector which has a ignition lock control cable and selector level postion plug which communicates to the pcm.

Does this apply to the 2000 W210 cars as well?

Thanks,

Well FYI I replaced the shifter in my 2000 E320 and it just worked. No electronic "blessing" needed.
