Arthur,

First I wanted to thank-you for answering my questions. I do appreciate it. I used to own a Ford Ranger and did all my maintenance and replacement myself. Then I got married and moved for a job and my wife and I bought our Mercedes used. I told my wife I would work on the cars if something went wrong with them. Well now my 320 has this surging problem and My wife's ML320 needs a rear bearing replacement. I commute a lot and these are our only cars.
I just pulled a plug and they are black and the gap is greater then 1/16 of an inch, it is a (F8DC4). Is this gap to big?? I did open up my Mass Air Flow wiring and it was disintegrated.

Gap is .8 mm

..but if the wires are crap to the MAF, then that is the suspect...it can not regulate the air/fuel mixture in responce to the ECU and 02 sensors signals..
Running way rich...
I also noticed you have an IAT sensor code, so I would pull that and see if the filament is broken...that would also throw the MAF sig out.
It may even be unplugged...I see that a lot when guiys change the plugs,,they forget to plug it back in...............

Intake Air Temp sensor is the little sensor in the air intake cross over pipe that goes from the MAF to the intake...The sensor plugs right into that pipe and registers the air temp, which then is calculated by the MAF circuit for a/f mix.
You had to take it off when you looked at the plugs..........................

You are right, I did, it is on the right side of the air intake cross over pipe (At least I know what the name of that pipe is now). I did plug it back in. I put some electrical tape (which I know is wrong to do) around the bare wires in for the MAF wiring, until I can get one.

To be honest with you, without changing the harness, you are going to continue to have problems and if the right wires happen to short, you can do some expensive damage to the modules and controls...so a harnes is where you should be going before anything.........

When Arthur Dalton speaks everyone listens. I could not agree with him more.
