I've yet to hear from anyone that has pulled out the OEM rear sway without dropping the subframe.

Just my .02, but from what I've seen, and heard from others, Haynes manuals went down hill about the point where they were bought by Chilton's.

I really liked the older Haynes manuals, when they based each manual on a complete tear down of the vehicle in question, and documented all the work steps.
The new manuals are much more like the Chilton's manuals, most parts being a mish-mash of OEM manual documentation with a muddle of simplification for the shade tree wrench spinner.

I agree, the older Haynes were helpful. The W124 is half European content which doesn't apply to my US car. It's a pain sifting through which section applys to my car. I also hate the representative drawings that barely resemble the actual parts. The Technibooks is no better. I hear the "W124 Bible" is mostly concept but I haven't seen it.

The only reason an aftermarket manual is better or worse than factory books is how much is spent to make them. The aftermarket spends the least amount to produce a profit. The factory will spend much more and create volumes of books since they are geared for the techs that service them. Unfortunately those are much more expensive and not easily available for the DIY owner.

W201 (190E) was a good manual.
