Help, car won't start due to Alarm being engaged..
I am trying to start up my 1993 400SEL but the red indicator lamp is constantly on (not blinking) It is also draining my battery and I cannot currently start the car. I have tried open and closing the doors with the transmittor and also by the key itself. I have tried every option of closing every door and opening from both inside and out, including the trunk and the red indicator light still stays on.
I also tried pulling the fuse in the trunk and the light went off, but I couldnt get the car to start. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance 140 Fanatic 1993 400SEL |

Alarm
Try to unplug the alarm, I think it is under the pasanger side mat on the floor. Do not unplug the air bag it is down there also. I dont know if yours is the same as mine but it is worth a try.

Check fuse #5.....

Pulled fuse #5 in the engine compartment and nothing, the red indicator light was still a constant red. (this is the button that lets you open and close all the doors from in the inside, which is located on the center console, next to the defrost button).
I then also pulled fuse #5 in the trunk and some others which the diagram reference to alarm and nothing. The hood is open and damaged, (as my wife was currently in a fender bender). Could an open hood cause the alarm to stay engaged? I've never seen this red indicator constantly stay on? Maybe I should pull the carpeting on the front passenger side and see whats there? Thanks for all your help.. |

If I were you I'd definitely look under the hood before unplugging wires under the passenger floor. I don't have much hands-on experience with W140s, but my 190E has a switch under the hood that is connected to the alarm. If you open the hood without deactivating the alarm it will sound. That would probably be a good place to start seeing as how your hood won't close completely.
