Hello there MB friends
I had recently got my Head gasket changed on my w124 94 E320 and everything went fine but i have been driving the car around with the Camshaft Adjuster Magnet disconnected (as in the wire that goes to the unit is disconnected, the 2 prongs on the unit) because if it is connected then the engine make a wierd noise and on high revs (3500+ in park/neutral) the engine shuts off with a crackling sound. But with this wire disconnected the car runs normal with no problems or so it seems. So i would like to know if anyone can tell me if i am in trouble for driving around with this disconnected and what are the concequences and could it be more problems connected to the camshaft itself. Any advice is really appreciated explaing how this camshaft system works and what my problem might be please and thanks ![]() |

The timing on the inlet camshaft is off. You should line up the mark and then turn the timing unit all the way to the right.
