Mobil 1 0W-40
My wife picked up 2 cases of Mobil 1 0W-40 oil today for my 98 E320. Thanks to Kuan, who listed several sources of Mobil 1 0W-40, I purchased it from Boncosky Oil Company in Elgin Il (847)741-2557. They are located 30 minutes from my house and only sell by the case at $4.22/qt.
I noticed that the Mobil 1 0W-40 label states "superior sludge and wear protection under severe, short trip operation" which the Mobil 1 15W-50 does not state. Last winter I used non-synthetic 10W-40 weight oil in the winter and noticed that on short trips in freezing temperatures that a white sludge would form under the oil cap. Time will tell how the Mobil 1 0W-40 will perform on short trips in freezing temperatures. Any one have experience with synthetic oil on short trips in freezing temperatures?
