Front window not working (compiled thread)

Continued from How to use battery to power window motor

------------

Problem: Front drivers/left side window not working.
As soon as ignition is turned on, Fuse G blows. Button does not need to be pressed -- it blows right away soon as key is on.
  • Replaced switch with working good one.
  • Replaced window motor and with battery it will go up and down fine.
  • Removed Black + Green power cables completely from door and routed through to center console.
  • Removed cables from switch so completely out of the equation and fuse still blows
  • Looked at wiring diagram and the Black/Yellow wire feeds power from the fuse box to the button in the center console
  • checked black/yellow wire coming out of Fuse G at box...and it looked fine.

Kinda lost on what to do from here Obviously the blk/ylw wire is shorting somewhere....but do I really need to gut the entire dash to chase this wire??

So its gotta be shorting somewhere from the fuse box to the window switch.

Kinda-maybe-related: The center console lights turn off when the window switch is pressed.

Check the wires going into the door from the pillar, sometimes the bushing/wires get worn and they short together.....

They are completely removed from the door. I routed + removed it all the way back to the center console. So that wire isn't the problem.

So I was thinking....

Maybe I am looking at the wrong place? I believe on this model, Fuse G controls the Front Drivers and Rear Right window. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong window here and am actually getting a short in the rear right window?

It was like the first thing that popped into my head as I woke up this morning.

By the end of the day all my door panels will be stripped! Car looks like a bomb hit it...
I will just disconnect the power cable at the center console at the switch and that will completely eliminate that wire so if the fuse does not blow, then it has to be that window causing the problems, right?

If its not, then I can say 100% it is in either of the Black/Yellow power cables that go directly to the fuse box.

..I suck at electronics...but at least I'm learning

Got it!! That was it!

Can't believe I was chasing a ghost at that front window. All I did was unplug the black + green power female connectors that goes into the window button to the rear left window. Plugged the front left back in, tested and fuse did NOT blow!!

So happy I managed to figure it out! I knew the problem couldn't lie in between the fuse box and the center console....I mean the wires looked perfectly fine under the seat, I couldn't imagine how it could have gotten bad inside the dash.

Phew!
