W126 Emblem Location - Fast Please!

Picking up 1990 300 SEL tomorrow from paint shop. Saw that the emblem strip "300 SEL" was too low and told them to take it off. I was surprised to see that it was really only plastic and not metal. Not sure exactly where it goes, but I could see that where it was was too low. May even have been wrong left-to-right.

Picking up the car tomorrow morning and want to get it put back in the right place.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me where it goes by referencing measurements from fixed locations on the car, such as the seam between the trunk and the rear panel, the lower edge of the trunk, the Mercedes star on the trunk, ....anything that I can measure to get it right both left-to-right and at the correct height.

Thanks in advance for any fast help.
D.

Had the same thing happen to my wagon. I found another model in a parking lot and took a pic with my camera, printed it at home and took it with me. Ends up they already had a picture from some kind of company or on-line reference. The last thing you need is for a potential buyer (who might already know the vehicle) to say, "Hmmm something doesn't look right here".

I am pretty sure they are held on with mounting pegs....or did they change that on the later ones? Mine is that way.....but it is an '82....

i believe the trunk star is held on by mounting pegs but the other emblems are adhesive. (at least on the later models)

my 190E was repainted by the previous owner and i suppose he left the emblems off. there are no holes where they should be. so i would guess its adhesive.

i do want to buy a new 190E emblem though. the bareness bugs me. i cant seem to find anywhere that sells the 2.3 emblem though.

Trunk star is held on by pegs. Emblem/name is just a plastic strip held on by adhesive.
Sorry no one could give me measurements yet. Guess I'll just take the emblem with me and hope to learn where it goes later.

Thank you very much for the link to document that shows the location.
However, I have no idea what reference points they are using.
The drawing shows the left edge of the model identification plate being 25 (I assume mm) from the left and 21 up from the bottom, but exactly
1. what point is it 25 FROM on the left? Certainly not the seam between the truck and the rear fender,...
2. And from what point is it 21 up from? Certainly not the bottom of the trunk.

Just a little more help please!!

Yes, 25mm in from the left edge of the trunk lid, at a point 21mm up from the bottom edge of the trunk lid. Where those two dimensions intersect is the left edge of the badge.

Thank you.

25mm = .98 inches (just about an inch)
and 21mm = .83 inches (a hair under 7/8 inch)

What a surprise - looks like where it was to start with was way too high, but I got used to it there and thought it was in the right place.

The new placement is about 1.25" from the left (about 1/4" too far)
and about 1" up (about 1/6" too high).

I'd have to say that that should be close enough not to rip off the plate, killing the paint in the process, and having to buy a new plate.

But it does look wrong being so close (only about 3/8") from the end of the chrome strip that runs along the center edge at the bottom of the trunk.

Thanks for your help.

I just looked again.
No wonder the measurements looked way off to me. That attached service page is for a W124 car. Mine is a 1990 300 SEL, a W126 car.

Can anyone PLEASE help me with location measurements for the car model emblem??
Thank you.
