I get 20 mpg if I drive it like a 240D taking an onramp. I get 20 mpg if I granny the thing. I get 20 mpg if I drive at 70 - 75 mph highway cruising. And, I get 20 mpg in stop and go city driving.

It's always the same, same, same. No matter how you cut it. I'm not complaining.

Just drive them like diesels. Run WOT whenever you can. They'll love you for it.
I have to clean out my M103 on a regular basis because my wife just loafs around town in it always....short trips at like 25-35mph.....I open it up when I drive it. 5k+!!

Ever driven a CIS M104?

The feel is amazing! It would be one of the perfect swaps for an M103 W126. About 40+ more HP and that big' ole S-class would be flying. (M103 has 177hp stock vs. 217 on M104)

I haven't....I'd love to take an M104 for a spin.

I still have yet to even drive a V8.....weird but true. Biggest engine I've ever driven is a 4.3 V6 in a Silverado......those are pretty powerful, but horribly unrefined, they sound horrible above 3,000rpm....like they want to blow apart!

We'll have to change that one of these days.
Except...with a 5 speed so you can get the complete thrill!

Now I got myself thinking of putting a 5 speed into a 300SEL! Damn this place!
