Can't find the engine block drain plug!?!?
Hello,
Can somebody tell me where the engine block coolant drain plug locates on my 92 400E? I tried to drain coolant last week, but I only drained 5 liters from the radiator, crawled under the car, just couldn't find that damned engine block drain plug. The service CD doesn't tell where the 119 engine drain plug is. Thank you very much.

Look in the area of the motor mounts. On the M117, the left drain is just forward of the mount and the right drain is just behind the mount, I imagine M119's are probably similar. Laying on your back look upward and on a flat at the lower edge of the block you should see a 19mm bolt, that should be the drain. On mine, once I pull the plug nothing came out, there was an inner plug of crud and buildup which had to be poked out with a screwdriver.

Thank you.
I did found a 19 mm aluminum plug last week, after I removed it nothing came out, it locates underneath the air pump on the passenger side , if it's one of the drain plugs I will give it a poke then.

Sounds about right, now look on the other side for the match. On mine it took a pretty good poke to break out the crud plug, just kind of work a small screwdriver into/through it.

On a 119 you should be looking for two nipples with an allen (5 or 6mm) in the middle. They are right in front of the engine mounts. They are bolted vertically not horizontally to block and they are tapered (they don't use a washer, gasket). Just loosen them a few turns and the coolant will start pouring from the middle (allen hole). Make sure to uncover expansion tank.
