Yeah, I can't keep saying enough how badly abused this thing was... How could someone do this to a car of such potential.. cutting holes it in for no apparent reason? Taking the courtesy lights out and cutting the wires doing a horrible paint job on it, slapping rims that don't fit right on it and then have the nerve to buy 99 cent letters from autozone and put "GQ" on the back and then "GQ Boys" on the rear window... What was so GQ about a car that was literally tore up from the floor up? ugh

I took the radio out to find a horrible.. HORRIBLE wiring job and yet another mysterious unplugged wire.... does anyone know where it goes?

ashedd- yeah I'm going to end up replacing the column as well, it's just too messed up and I hate how the steering wheel does not lock up.. I guess I'll be super careful, thanks for the warning! lol

Stewart, yeah dude this car has had it bad.. My goal it to make her nice again though and feel like a Mercedes should. It feels all junky right now to me

Compu85- Thanks I will do that, we've been getting some weather and it's been raining this past week which is shame I didn't know about this cuts sooner or I would have covered them up.

truckinik- hahaha seriously... I guess he realized that before he finished cutting the hole

I found the part number on the steering lock assy, its 124 462 12 30. I doubt you need a new column. You can use a screwdriver to operate until you get a new ignition lock cylinder. Price drop to $35 due to you car's condition

If only there was one still in the trunk lol Thanks I won't worry about this one then. I'm going to retape all those connections though because it seems a little unsafe to me..

Yeah, Me too. It just sort of strikes me more as a parts car, than a project car. It's just a 300E, not anything exotic, or special. It isn't even a Euro car is it?

We bought the car because it was (to me) low miles and engine runs nice and smooth... It's just the body that's all tore up...

It has come across my mind to sell this car and just look for one in better shape... Although the more I work on this car the more I'm starting to like it, the car has had a hard life and I myself have had a crappy year and I feel I can relate to the car in a way and would like to fix it up and take it with me when I go to school or move out of state. It has potential it just needs some love.

It will ride much much smoother once I have the OEM rims back on and it just needs a bunch of stupid stuff after that. 129,000 miles isn't that much in my view as when I got my 300E in high school it had 167,000 miles.

It's just fixing it up and getting it back up to par one ridiculous problem at a time lol You all are probably going to see me many a time on here now with questions about stuff that's all messed up lol.

It's nothing out of the ordinary, just the normal non euro 300E that has been abused.
