126 Seat frame movement

My 560SEL drivers seat has a noticeable movement from the left rear area. Is this likely to be adjustable or is a new frame required? My seat cushion is also excessively squeaky, can the springs be replaced or does the cushion need to be replaced and recovered?

Cheers
Matt.

Exactly what kind of movement?Actually my driver's seat is just a tad "spongy" to where you can hear the springs and wonder about replacing myself...Maybe yours is doing something similar.I don't know about adjustments since I'm assuming it shouldn't move unless you want it to.period. Hopefully someone can help us both out.I actually just got a catalog from performance products that has all of those replacement parts if need be including the frame and cushion although I wonder how difficult it would be for a DIYer to replace (especially without screwing up something like my heated seat feature).Any ideas?? good luck matt

How much was a seat frame and seat cushion - might be the best way for me to go. The movement I have is in the left rear bottom corner where there shouldn't be any movement.

Cheers
Matt.

hey matt...sorry but I just got to view your reply and didn't bring the catalog with me but I'm pretty sure the frame's like a bit under $200.00. I think its 189.00 for the frame and I can't remember the price of the cushion but their number is 800-243-1220 and you can order a catalog specifically for all kinds of parts just for the W126. Also the site is http://www.************************
Hope this helps out and good luck!

Thanks for your reply DJNEWK2, my CD should arrive in a couple more days so I will let you know what the procedure to remove the seat frame and cushion is like.

Cheers
Matt.

Had same problem with 420SEL at 220K miles. Started to buy a new seat frame and cushion, but before I did, I checked with my local MB mechanic for installation advice. He recommended an auto upholstry shop that does all their upholstry work. Good advice. A few hours and $100 later, the shop replaced the broken spring (singular) and re-padded the seat - feels like new. Saved a few bucks and learned a few things. The shop owner said he has fixed many MB front driver's seats with exactly the same problem. Maybe you have someone in your area who can do the same.

Which upholstery shop did you use? I live in Washington D.C. and have a '95 SL320 with a semi-squeaky driver's seat (faint squeaks whenever I get in and out or turn in the seat) -- my dealer advised me that the only way to get rid of the squeaks is to replace the entire seat frame and seat cushion. According to the dealer, the SL seats are "spring-less" and cannot be serviced (somehow, I doubt that Mercedes would design a non-servicable seat). Whenever problems arise with the SL seats, the dealer says that the only remedy is to replace the entire seat frame plus cushion. Guess how much -- $2,200 (parts and labor).
