Exclamation M103 Timing Chain Question

Hello all!
I am almost finished with my head gasket job on my 300TE 3.0 M103. I have put in a new timing chain ratcheting tensioner but I am not sure how tight it the chain should be. I have been searching for the past several days to ensure I have it together correctly.
From what I understand if the ratcheting tensioner is reset (or new) putting it in the motor and adding the 17mm Hex and the spring/12mm cover should not cause any problems?
I just DO NOT want to break anything, as I start my second sophomore semester at PSU tomorrow and will not have time to do anything else but reassemble everything.
Everyone at this forum really knows their stuff so thanks in advance!
-Dan

As long as you took out the middle shaft from the motor end and then pushed it in as the last step after mounting the main body it will extend out to the correct position. It takes a good bit of force to compress the spring while installing the cap.
