Cool 201 chassis idler arm bushings

Has anyone replaced the Idler arm bushings on a 190e? Is it do-able at home or should I consider having a shop do it? Service manual makes it look relatively straightforward using a press.

It is relatively easy. I had to disconnect the exhaust pipe at the exhaust manifold to get the bolt out. (Mine is a 2.6) other than that it only takes a few minutes and you can do it.

DIY. No need to remove the exhaust pipe on a 2.3L. However, there is an exhaust shield that needs to be removed to gain better access.

Oops! I did this just last week. The heat shield comes off easily with 1 hex head screw (10 mm I think). I changed the drag link and both tie rods at the same time but I think you can change the bushings without removing the othe pieces. Just push them out of the way. Be sure to use some syl-glide when reassembling the bushings. I used the old bolt and a couple of box end wrenches to fashion a puller to lever the bushings in.
