when the weather changes the gremlins come out...
we had a late indian summer here in the east coast last week with temps in the 70's. my intermittent bad lightbulb warning stopped and of course my outside temp LCD readout faded to nothing. today it was 29 degrees when i got up. as i drove out, i saw that my outside temp readout was on rock-solid. and of course a few minutes later the bad lightbulb warning came on!
tomorrow i will change all my fuses as had been suggested for this cold weather gremlin. and i'll probably order that temperature sensor from Phil unless someone will post where to get a replacement one...

I thought most cars were a-climatised and orientated to the weather?

update & ping
figgered out the external lamp warning - it was the third eye brake light. although it was working when i checked it, i caught it when the warning came on and saw that it (third eye brake light) was not coming on (you can see the light through the bottom of the cover). after a second it was working again so i just changed it and that took care of that.
in the meantime after the recent "heatwave", my external temp sensor has not recovered as i thought it would with the cooler dry air. anyone have a partnumber for that thermistor? is that the same thing as the "ambient temp sensor" in fastlane? it's $45 and i know the thermistor is just a couple of bucks....

Not to alarm you, but didn't some of these 124's have wiring harness problems that dealers were replacing if the car had less than 100K miles?

They certainly did, mine not excluded. My wiring harness is brand-new, about two months old. The external temp sensor is not part of that wiring harness, but from what I gather it's a PITA to replace because the cable goes through the engine bay, not sure if it goes all the way back to the instrument cluster. I even read that many techs just cut the cable and splice the new sensor in. If I'm gonna do that then I might as well just replace the thermistor at the tip.
