MonoValve too hot to touch

That thing is way too hot at normal engine operation, even with heat off..i can't even touch it without getting a burn....

is this normal? or is this an indication of an electric problem?

thanks,

The coil is energized when the heat is off, so some heat will be generated. I have never measured the temperature of mine (although it's a duo-valve), but it does get pretty warm.

Seems normal

I just installed a new duo-valve in my W140 - it works perfectly but is extremely hot to the touch
