When I hit that second link though, I got this:"This Connection is Untrusted" and it won't let me continue. I hate to ask, but could you please copy and then paste his post here?
Regards, Eric
I get the same message...

two possibilities:
- fuel level sender or it's ground connection somewhere in the trunc,
- fuel gauge ground connection or common ground connection behind the instrument cluster

I cured my chaotic fuel gauge (dancing between 0 an 1/3 without any system) by soldering the connection points on the back side of the gauge and slightly tightening the screw that holds the gauge.
It's safe to open.

Cool! Thanks!
So now I have my marching orders. It may take a while, but I will report back a resolution! Thanks everyone!

I'm hesitant to take anything apart right now because this car is doing daily driver duty at this time. When I'm back in one of the other cars I'll tear into this one.

I do have a minor update though, I found out today that the low fuel light is still working. Does that narrow the possibilities of what the cause of the problem is? We have about half the folks here saying "gauge" and about the other half saying "sending unit" and I would really like to have a better idea which one it is so I don't disassemble stuff unnecessarily because, as alluded to earlier in this thread, that nearly always ends up biting me in the arse.
Regards, Eric

For what it's worth, my amber fuel low quantity light functioned correctly even with an erratic fuel quantity transmitter. It didn't flash on and off. I suspect that was due to some sort of nuisance circuitry.
