Resistor Plugs and/or Wires? (General Ignition Question) One or the other or Both?

On Resistors (plugs or wires) is it a one or the other (i.e. RESISTOR Plugs and NON-Resistor wires or Vise Versa) thing with ignition systems? Will it hurt to have resistor types in both places (plugs and wires)?

I am a Diesel guy and don't know too much about spark ignition systems so forgive me if that's a stupid question.

I just asked one of the guys who usually knows something at O'reilly's and he said he didn't know the answer to that.

Is there an in general rule when it comes to DIS (no distributor ignition systems)?

The OE wires have resistance built in and some people use resistor plugs as they are easy to find. Many people have idling and power issues running resistor plugs, some do not. I would not mess with what the factory designed when it comes to this. MB did not just flip a coin on which type to put in. So stick with what they sent the car to you with.

I agree with him ...

My experience is that it's best to stick with non-resistor plugs assuming you're using standard rotor arm and HT leads. There's no problem getting them (non-Res) from Beru, NGK or Champion - some say that Bosch ones are harder to find - that's why my Bosch ones have just been replaced with Beru.

It makes a difference in the 92-95 computer controlled ignition as the independant cluthes to adjust timing will be off in the heads if resistor plugs are used. I have even heard about the computer reaching its limit set points and have the car in a non running state. Just look up the guy for cool harness as he has a chip replacement guide for the computers when they reach there adjustment limit as they can not be reset.
