What is the white dial in the trunk used for. If I translate right, its heighten and lower. I am thinking for SLS. But all I have read on that is that its adjusted under the car. The dial connects to a metal tube that foes towards the rear.

Drawing a blank, and I see no one else has piped up yet.
The only dial that comes to mind might be on the sunroof motor, it would be on the drivers side up around the top of the wheel well sheetmetal, it is rotated to manually close the sunroof if it fails. It's about the size of a silver dollar. It's on the side of the motor, you would see the tube that contains the sunroof cable going up into the roof area and also a short section goes back towards the tail light. MAYBE the manual operation knob is stuck on the end of the tube? I don't remember it being stored there, I thought it stayed on the motor itself, hmmm. You got an owners manual you can check for emergency operation of the sunroof?

If this is making no sense, what would help is WHERE in the trunk it is, the size, the markings on it (in German is fine if you aren't sure what it says). The details you gaive are all really sketchy.

The suspension on a US car has no adjustment for the owner (nothing easy), to change it, it needs to have a link adjusted at the levelling valve.

Gilly. You are spot on with your description. I am used to the moonroof motor being in the headliner. What you say now makes more sense. The dial is at the far end of the motor and at first glance its not apparent there is a motor there at all, its hidden behind a support.

Oops! lol Actually I use the name "unity" on the car forums normally, but I think it was taken. Plus it sounds cheesy, but it has a history behind its use.

From my experience, you're talking about the white one next to the antenna, right?

It says Heben and Senken, meaning raise and lower respectively.

I've turned it each way a number of times and I think it raises or lowers the pressure in the rear self leveling suspension.

At least it feels that way to me.

I took a closer look. Its next to the antenna. There is a long rod going out the back of it to the end of the trunk along the fender. its leaking some fluid, but nothing to worry about (yet). The fluid is very dark and sticky.

I am guessing that if this is setup anything like the rear window shade, this tube holds the length of whatever they use to operate the moonroof.

The fluid is just grease that's smeared on the sunroof cable. Car sits out on a hot day and it'll oooze a little. The tube is very long so the cable doesn't hang out and get dusty.
There is no manual operation on a US car for the suspension, it's not for that. On cars in other markets (not sure which ones) the control for the suspension is on the dash.
Maybe the belief that the suspension is being altered is from leaning on the rear bumper or rear of the body of the car, and the suspension starts to self-level?
Also, you might see that knob rotate when the sunroof is operated. Not sure though, the knob possibly has to be pushed in to work?
Don't you guys have owners manuals, it should describe emergency operation of the sunroof, dudes!
