I used a 'rec43t' keyless kit from some company called 'omega research' on my W201. It has 4 wires (lock, unlock, power, ground) and 2 remote controls. It cost $25 and works great. I wired it through the trunk lock. W124 and W126 would use the same setup.

Its important to note that on first generation w126's you'll need to install a door lock actuator on the driver side door as there is no vacuum supply. I had to do this on my one 300SD.
The 201 has a Directed Electronics unit, works well, its tucked under the the back seat.

Just be careful an aftermarket unit that didnt have 3 second hold for the locks (usually using bosch relays to accomplish) can burn up the central locking wiring along with the door sensor/trunk lock wires. I have replaced about 20 wires from a unit that looked wired correctly with bosch relays and it still did things tha may never really be ever fixed. And yes all lines had fuses, but it looks like a slow burn if you know what I mean.
Once I removed and re-ran wires and resoldered I have been trouble free for the most part. |

tjts1,
I have the REC-43T and I have been trying to figure out how to wire it up to my '91 300CE (W124). I tried to connect it to the trunk lock actuator and I can't get it to work. I have 3 wires from the vacuum pump (under the back seat) to the trunk - red (12v all the time), yellow (12v when unlocked), and a brown wire (ground). I don't have the blue or the green wire (from the REC-43T) connected anywhere - and I'm sure this is part of my problem. Any suggestions? ryan
