torque spec on valve cover?
Hello all,
I'm cleaning up oil leaks in my 2.3 16v. How tight should the nuts be on the valve cover? Should I use loctite 5900? I have purchased a new gasket. I understand this is a bit anal-retentive, but I would rather do the job once and never again. Dan. |

The tightening torque is 9nm. Don't bother with the 5900, where would you put it? 5900 is a flange sealer, like metal on metal.
Do replace the seals for the spark plug holes though. Gilly ps the work instructions do state to tighten in a "crosswise" pattern and in steps, so just jump around in a zig-zag pattern, and work up to 9nm slowly.
