Is there anyplace to get rebuild procedures and parts kits for Bosch fuel distributors?

Thanks,
Motorhead

To the best of my knowledge, no. And as far as I can tell, you don't want to, either! Buy only MB rebuilt units, even the Bosch rebuilds are chancy these days, certainly avoid anything rebuilt in the US, they are usually as bad as the one being replaced.

Lots of springs, tiny valves, etc in the fuel distributor, I suspect some rather special tools are required to get it put back together, let alone work correctly.

I could be wrong, but I'd fairly sure there is no kit available, anyway,

Peter

If a car(81 380 SL) set up for 2 years would the fuel distributor go out? It runs fine as long as you pour gas into intake but as soon as you stop, it dies. If so, is it impossible to fix? Believe me the owner is not going to buy a $2k rebuilt one so the car will just continue to sit if not. It is not my car. I have rebuilt a min. of 50 carburetors in the past 35 years. Is is more complicated than any the worst carb?

There's no rebuild kit to my knowledge either. I just replaced the fuel distr. on my 450Sl. I know it s not the same but they are all a complicated mess of springs and valves. I got a salvage one from Sambucci Bros. in Corona N.Y. for only $100. You might want to try them or go to car-part.com and search. If You do get a salvage one look for one that hasn't been sitting long. Mine came of a recently wrecked vehicle. You will have to have the pressures tested on it from competent shop.
Good luckhttp://www.car-part.com/ http://www.sambuccibros.com/

There is a company on the market that sells quality rebuilt units. They are called CIS-TECH. I am not sure of how to get a hold of them, but they do exsist.

1967AND2002 - I have a porsche that sat for 2 years. Wouldn't start. Are you sure your fuel pump is working?? Mine was not - I guess there was some water in the tank and it seized the pump from sitting . Check and make sure you have fuel from the pump before condemning the distributor.

Since only BOSCH can get NEW parts to overhaul these fuel distributors, they are the only ones that you have any possibility of QUALITY! Have seen 50% & higher failures of all aftermarket rebuilds, if they work at all!

The fuel distributors that the MB dealers sell ARE exactly like ones from any BOSCH WD!

Why did the FD need rebuilding? Based on the circumstances, it sounds like the system just needed to be tuned and that can be done without a total FD rebuild.

The rebuilt FDs are probably set to flow equal amounts to each injector, but injectors don't flow the same. The FD really needs to be tuned to the injector set and that matched flow needs to work with the EHA and idle adjustment in a way that the computer can control and the window is small.

A half turn at the FD will require about a 1/4 turn at the EHA to compensate which will require a turn or more at the idle screw. Miss one of those adjustments and the car will not start.

In short, don't get down on the FD rebuilders.
