I have 2 automatic transmissions and I need to understand if my spare trans is compatable with my 1991 560 SEL. Also, how do you tell a 2 speed from a 3 speed or a 4 speed? Is there a 5 speed???

EDIT:- for the age of your car I'd expect a 4 speed auto
