help me diagnose this noise, please
hey all,
I have a pretty severe vibration coming into the chassis at anything above 35-40mph. Changing the subframe mounts helped substantially, but it persists. I took the below video with the car on jackstands, you can clearly hear something balking when the drivetrain is engaged, but i'm not sure what it is. New center support will be going in soon, but the driveshaft looks like it's spinning smoothly (rubber is deteriorated, however). Flex discs are 25k old and the vibration damper has been removed. ![]() also: I'm assuming the diff needs a new set of clutches since the passenger wheel is not engaging too well (car is a 16v - has a LSD) |

Sounds like the differential or maybe the CV joints.

Pick up a mechanic's stethoscope, you since you already know the general area its coming from, the steth would really help narrow down the sound. I agree it sounds like a CV joint

Well, the CV boots look original and definitely have stress marks, so I guess I'll add that to the list of things to change in my refresh...

Alright, took a stethoscope to it just now - definitely sounds like it's the diff. that's the only place I could touch the stethoscope to where the sound was clear.
any advise on diff rebuilds?

Measurement Devices and Tools Needed
for a "Pumpkin" Re-Build (If Needed) make it NOT a DIY type project.
Disclaimer: LSDs and their "Clutches" are VooDoo to me. (Along the Same path as Trying to Machine your own S.S.Propeller) GSXR will know.
