Headlights suck 400E

Anyone know of a headlight upgrade for my 92 400E that will keep the OEM look!

A set of Bosch or Hella Eurolamps are your best choice. Depos are almost equally as good and can be had for less money if you aren't looking to spend too much.

Swap out the 9004 bulbs for 9007s then adjust the headlight angle.

The only way to go is with a quality or even medium quality set of Euro's. If you're worried about looks, consider this:

Your car was designed for the look of the Euro lights. The US lights are an after thought. You will love your Euro lights, both how well they look and how well you can see. If I had a picture of my 300E with Euro lights handy, I'd post it for you. You also should put in the vacuum height adjusters when you put in the Euro's.

It will be one of the very best improvements you can do. The US lights on the 300E are PARTICULARLY bad, making the upgrade a greater improvement. Check out ebay.

Good luck

Just putting new Sylvania Silver something-or-others in my 190E from McParts was a big improvement. They still have the DOT headlight frame which sucks however.

I want the Euro lights, and agree that they look and function the best. Trouble is where to get a bona-fide set? All the eBay ones look like cheap knockoffs. Also, where can one get the rest of the stuff, like the vac switch and/or the Euro combination switch and anything else needed?

The best thing you can do with your USA lights is throw them in the garbage.

Get OEM with vacuum height adjust if you feel like spending $700, or get the depo lights on ebay for less than $300.

Standard H4 bulbs will give you great light.
I had a 560SEL with 100/130 bulbs, relayed with no voltage drop and the difference over std euro bulbs was less than just swapping in euros vice USA.

Stick with the std euro style, it's a crapshoot whether the non stock looking lights are any better.

I have depo's on both mine...

I wouldn't go Bosch unless it was a no-brainer with price. Depo's still look great after 4 years on my wagon now. No pitting, no fading. Great quality for $160.

If you're on a budget, the Depo's are probably your best bet. Try ebay.
