Scheduled MB services.
The last time I was in my local MB shop my service advisor said I was due a scheduled service pretty soon based on the time elapsed since the last service but when I checked the display in the car it said another 2,500 miles. Should I go ahead and have the service done even though it isn't really due according to the miles or should I wait until it reaches the mile date? We don't drive the car ( 04 E320 33K) that much so the miles come on slowly as compared to the months. Would appreciate any comments....Thanks Desert

definitely wait. They are going based on time not miles. Even if you drove 10 miles since you last had service they would want you to go in for scheduled maintenance because they [stealership] are assuming you driving a lot.

Many MB service intervals have BOTH a time and a mileage cycle. If you are a very low mileage driver then you should consider time. For example, oil changes are more frequent to prevent sludge buildup. Of course, it's your car and you make the final call.

I sorta agree (with lsmalley), I am curious about just when the last service was done, though.

Just got back from the airport so that delayed my response, I think the last service was a "D" on 4/29/10 which seems like a long time ago although the mileage seems about right, 25K then just turned 34K now. I have a call into my MB service advisor to confirm if that was the latest service. What do you think if it was that long ago, get it done soon or wait for the mileage to trip the dash alert? Thanks, Desert

Closing in on 2 yrs and 9000 miles, yeah I'd say you got your money's worth out of that one. I would do it, not like tomorrow but in the next few months.

You are right! My service rep confirmed the date and miles of the last service. I'm from the old "every 3,000 miles" school so with these extended service periods it's easy to lose track of the time since the last one. I'll schedule it soon. Thanks to all for the input....Desert
