That might be just a charge issue but I'm not sure. It took a bit of refrigerant to get the system to have 165Psi high side when I added stuff a few weeks ago.

No, the bolt holes on the 17 are farther apart fore/aft requiring a different mount on the engine.

That makes total sense. I know in the refrigeration world the capacity of the system is largely determined by condensor capacity with the assumption that the compressor is of adequate size. That thinking, however, is from the stationary world where motors drive compressors at constant speed.

If someone were doing lots of stop & go driving in Phoenix, or Dallas for that matter, the larger compressor might very well bring something to the party.

I wonder how hard it would be to find the compressor mount in the boneyard?

I wonder if you could use the mount from a M116/7 engine or something that was equipped with the 17.. I wonder if that would mount up to the other motors...

It's possible, but I wouldn't count on it.

The mount is designed to fit the engine on one side and the compressor on the other. I would THINK that the 92 & up have the 17, thus the mount would work okay. This is something that you'll just have to comb the boneyards for. Measure the bolt hole spacing fore and aft on the two compressors so that you know what you're looking for.

Hope this helps.

Hmmmm, My 190E is/was a 1993..but the engine from a 1990 300SEL was swapped into it... I *Think* the accessories were swapped over... I dont know if its a 15 or 17. I think I actually have another compressor somewhere too 15 or 17 cant recall exactly.
