No clue as to the car you have. But cars with a PVC valve that fails can cause this. It the breather tube form the valve covers to the intake. Cars that have a PCV valve can pull in a little oil and the valve wears out. I have seen cases where so much oil is pulled in that it just sits at the bottom of the intake as a pool.

You maybe right. It just looks and feel weird. I may just end up cleaning it out. One MB owner thinks it's a PCV valve issue which I'll also check and probably replace.

This happens to most M103 engines.
Just clean it out. There is no "PCV" valve per se. In the valve cover there is an "oil trap". There is an outlet from the manifold to the oil trap with a very small opening. There should be just enough vacuum to suck any fumes rising up from the crank case which are then captured in the oil trap and returned to the valve train area as oil. Over time seepage will occur back into the manifolds and gather underneath the throttle valve. Last edited by Ivanerrol; 03-24-2013 at 10:36 PM. |
