Identify the vacuum fitting?

I have a '97 CL500 (C140) coupe. On the right side of the engine compartment behind the inner wall and next to the box containing the computer boards there is a green vacuum line going into a rectangular fitting on the side of a cover sealing off the AC blower and other things.
(Sorry for the lame explanation as I haven't found out how to post a picture yet.)
Anyway, can anyone describe this small vacuum fitting and its purpose?

You're right it's kind of hard, especially with different chassis. There is a green vacuum line in that location on the M104 engine that controls a particular shift solenoid function, namely, the dreaded upshift delay. Without tracing the other end, can't say. Is yours just dangling there, are you trouble shooting, or just upping your personal knowledge base?

We noticed when we had the AC blower compartment cover off, that it was leaking, not the tubing but the rectangular device the tubing was connected to. I almost think that it has something to do with the AC system because everything else under the cover does. I've been all over EPC and AllData but nothing jumps out.

It controls a flap that shuts off fresh air to the blower when in re-circ mode.

Thanks a million for the info. Maybe now I can track down the part number for a replacement.
Sounds like you TE si a real sleeper. I'd love tp see the expression on the face some some ricered punk with the coffee can sized exhaust when you destroy him!

Yeah, its certainly a sleeper. My favorite is when somebody changes lanes pulling up to a light to go around me. Even better when its some D/B in a BMW.

3.0L with 18PSI boost theoreticly moves about the same amount of air as a 6.6L N/A. Its not stupid fast cause hey its still a heavy AWD wagon but it does move pretty darn good.

The best ego boost I got lately was a bycyclist that rode up beside me and pecked at the window. When I rolled down the window he said in a thick german accent "Is turbo ...ya?".... "Is gas or diesel?"... Me: "I turbocharged the gas motor using a lot of turbodiesel parts" Cyclist: "Sounds good... bet it is a real sleeper"
