Have the front and rear suspension joints, links and bushings checked out. It's these things that most owners neglect, since wear is so gradual.

Keep an eye on your coolant, the M103 six is a well known head gasket killer.

On start up, listen for any rattle from the engine that disappears with increased oil pressure. That would be a loose timing chain or chain tensioner.

i don't want to lecture you... just change all the fluids.... try not to spend money on it...it is a disposable car.... just drive it.... if it goes...and it stops...and it has cool air....what else can you ask for.... my guess is you didn't have to pay more than 2k for it...so just enjoy it...

A Gasser?

Looking at your list of current & past vehicles did I see that you have been wedded to the diesel world & now have crossed over to a gasser? A heresy!

There are 2 gassers buried in the list. 93 300E 3.2 & the other 190E as a 5 speed. Weren't any 5 speeds available closer than Connecticut so I can deal with the automatic as long a sit was in this blue/ blue combo.

When I do get it home base I will begin to clean up & inspect piece by piece. The engine did have a nice soft purr to it and the AC was cold and alot stronger than any of the diesels except the 81 300SD.

An old friend (gal) texted me a picture this morning of a blue 190E with the sportline or Lorinser look & a 190 spolier to boot. So if after I do get any kinks worked out if it is possible to add on trim to give it that look too. Of all the Benzs I've had so far my old 190 was the most fun to take on the highway.

Which of your cars are "disposable?"

i would say my 300ce is about two years away from being disposable... that is when potential work exceeds value. That's when I part them out and then sell the carcass to the bone yard.

I would say a 190e becomes disposable if you blow a head gasket and lose a/c..
